Man Arrested In 2010 Killing Of Ferndale Dollar Store Owner

FERNDALE, Mich. (AP) — Relatives of a suburban Detroit man fatally shot in 2010 inside his store say they're hopeful now that police have arrested a suspect in his killing.

Ferndale police announced Thursday they had arrested a 48-year-old Romulus man in connection with Karim Khamarko's slaying.

The 64-year-old Southfield man died in November 2010 after he was shot several times inside his Dollar Club Plus store in Ferndale.

Khamarko's daughter, Candace Samona, tells The Detroit News her family has been "waiting for this moment" for nearly a decade and can hopefully now find closure.

Ferndale police say they made the arrest after receiving a tip earlier this year and re-examining the unsolved murder case.

Police haven't released the suspect's name, but they say more information will be released in the coming days.
