Police: Man Arrested, Caught Shooting Heroin In Subway Restaurant Bathroom

LAKE ORION (WWJ) - A 42-year-old Lake Orion man was arraigned Monday on charges of heroin possession after police say he was caught shooting up in the restroom of a Subway restaurant.

Patrick Malloy was arrested when an employee of the Subway on North Park Blvd. called police after witnessing what he thought looked like a drug deal in the parking lot.

Lake Orion Police Lt. Harold Rossman arrived within a minute of the call and found Malloy, who matched the witness' description, in the public restroom with a belt around his arm and drug paraphernalia nearby "consistent with heroin use."

Police said Malloy admitted to Lt. Rossman that he was injecting heroin.

"An alert employee with a concern for his place of work is a valuable asset in driving this activity," said Lake Orion Chief Jerry Narsh in a statement, "and any type of crime from our community, the Lake Orion Police Department is thankful for people who see something and say something to help us in our mission to keep Lake Orion safe."

Malloy has numerous past convictions, according to police — including drug possession, dealing, drunk driving and shoplifting.

He is facing up to four years in prison if convicted.
