Man Arrested After Thanksgiving Dinner Argument

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Thanksgiving dinner ended with an argument, a gun and an arrest for one Oakland County family.

The situation unfolded around 6:40 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 700 block of 3rd Avenue, in a neighborhood south of Walton Boulevard and Joslyn Avenue in Pontiac.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Department said a 38-year-old man was at the house for a family dinner when he apparently got into a verbal altercation with another guest.

Witnesses told police that the man went outside and returned with a handgun. He then allegedly pointed the gun "in a threatening manner" at several people in the house, including a 50-year-old woman, before leaving the scene.

Deputies canvassed the neighborhood and located the man nearby on Kenilworth Avenue, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Charges are pending. The man's name was not immediately released.
