Man Arraigned On Manslaughter Charge In Death Of Grandmother

CHARLOTTE, Mich. (AP) - A man accused along with his mother of causing the death of his 76-year-old grandmother at the Lansing-area hotel where the three lived has appeared in court on a manslaughter charge.

Twenty-three-year-old Tyler Sanford was arraigned Wednesday in Eaton County District Court in Charlotte. He faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and vulnerable adult abuse.

Fifty-two-year-old Robin Sanford was arraigned on the same charges Feb. 25.

They're charged in the January 2014 death of Nancy Belen, who lived at a Red Roof Inn in Delta Township.

The Lansing State Journal says prosecutors expect a probable cause hearing for the mother and son will take place March 30.

Lucas Dillon represents Robin Sanford and says he disputes the charges. It wasn't immediately known if her son has a lawyer.
