Man, 72, Killed When Car Hits Snowmobile In Leelanau County

TRAVERSE CITY (AP) — Authorities in northern Michigan say a 72-year-old man was killed when a car hit his snowmobile as he crossed a state highway near Traverse City.

WWTV/WWUP reports that Leelanau County sheriff's deputies say the man was on the last of three snowmobiles crossing Michigan 72 on Friday. The site is about 15 miles west of Traverse City.

The victim is identified as Timothy J. Krause of Beulah. Authorities say neither of the two people in the car was injured.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that investigators say Krause ignored a stop sign.
