Make-A-Wish Foundation Flies Dutch Teen To Detroit For Ford Rouge Factory Tour

DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Harm Jan Bosch was born with a heart defect. When the Make-A-Wish Foundation asked the 17-year-old from the Netherlands what dream he would like fulfilled, he didn't hesitate -- he wanted to travel to the Ford factory where they build his favorite truck, the F-150.

Make-A-Wish paid for Bosch, his parents and four siblings to travel to Dearborn so the entire family could take the Ford Rouge Factory Tour.

Why did Bosch want so badly to tour the factory? He's already been to Disney World, he said, and he loves the F-150.

"They're big, they're strong, they're nice. They have a lot of types," said Bosch. "Very cool trucks."

Bosch was impressed by the assembly that took place as the trucks hovered over the workers' heads. But his biggest thrill by far was being able to sit inside a "top-of-the-line" model.

"The Ford F-150 Raptor, it's only for the stars," he said.

Bosch's father Gert said he was "proud as a peacock" when he son was allowed to put the Raptor plate on two different trucks. The family was then taken on a tour of the Henry Ford Museum, where Harm Jan helped to assemble a Model T.

"All I see and all I hear about America is the bad news," said Gert Bosch. "Trump vs. Clinton, Black and White, poor and rich. All that kind of stuff. And what I see is that people are polite. It's nice and clean...It's perfect here."
