Macomb County Man Jailed 30 Days For Killing Neighbor's Dog

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) - A 53-year-old Macomb County man has been ordered to serve 30 days in jail and spend two years on probation for fatally shooting a dog in his neighbor's yard.

Keith D. Zbrudzewski, of Warren, was sentenced Wednesday in Macomb County Circuit Court for the May 8 shooting of "Coco," a miniature pinscher, The Macomb Daily reported.

Zbrudzewski earlier pleaded guilty to animal torture or killing, punishable by up to four years in prison.

Zbrudzewski shot the dog for no apparent reason other than for enjoyment, an official told the newspaper. Authorities say he had a pellet gun.

The dog was owned by Kayla Guy, who was visiting her mother. She told WJBK-TV that Zbrudzewski "took something that meant a lot" to the family.

Zbrudzewski also was ordered to pay $3,240 in restitution to Guy.
