Macomb County Man Charged After Firing Shots In Case Of 'Road Rage'

MT. CLEMENS (WWJ) - A Mt. Clemens man is behind bars on felony charges after shots were fired during what authorities say was a road rage incident.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says the alleged shooter, identified as 23-year-old Samuell Smith, followed another driver to his home, Monday evening — in the S. Christine and N. Rose in Mt. Clemens — and the two begin arguing.

During the confrontation, Smith allegedly pulled a weapon from his waistband; and, when the other man tried to take a picture of him, Smith knocked his cell phone out of his hands.

Wickersham said the victim then fled the scene in his 2009 Dodge Challenger as Smith fired off several shots, striking the victim's vehicle.

No one was injured.

Wickersham said Smith has no criminal record and does hold a concealed pistol license. He was arrested without incident nad has been cooperative with investigators.

Smith was arraigned via video from jail in the 41-B District Court of Clinton Township, charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearm.

He remains held on a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
