Macomb County Man And Woman Jailed In Downtown Mt. Clemens Mugging

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A young Macomb County man and his female accomplice are behind bars accused in mugging in downtown Mt. Clemens.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said, the pair approached a man at Main Street and Cass.  The woman, later identified as 20-year-old Alissa Marie Guilbault of Chesterfield, asked him for money and he refused.

The complainant told deputies he walked to the bus stop at that intersection and the two approached him again.  That's when, the man said, the male suspect — identified as 25-year-old David Alan Surkovich of Clinton Township — pulled what appeared to be a black handgun from the waistband of his jeans, pointed it at the man's face said "give me your money."

The man told deputies that he gave the pair $12 and they left.

The man called 911 with a description of the suspect. A short time later, they were found by Clinton Township police at Cass and Rose and were arrested.

No gun was found, Wickersham said, but Surkovich was carrying a black flashlight.

Both Surkovich and Guilbault were arraigned on armed robbery charges Wednesday via video in 41B District Court. Each was given a $100,000 cash/surety bond.

They remain lodged at the Macomb County Jail pending their next court appearance set for Monday, Nov. 9.
