Lyft, ZipCar, Uber Offer Metro Detroiters Election Day Ride Deals

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Just about everyone agrees mass transportation is abysmal in Detroit and non-existent in the suburbs; They just can't agree on how to fix it or even if it should be fixed.

And that's an issue on Election Day, when every vote matters but people in 26 percent of Detroit households don't have access to a car.

Enter ride sharing services.

Uber, Lyft and Zipcar are reminding voters of their services for Election Day. Open an app, type in your address and wait for your ride to appear.

It's convenient, and operators are attemtping to make it affordable, too. Lyft is offering a one-way 45 percent discount for riders in Detroit on election day. Base fare is .70 cents per mile with a $2.45 service fee.

Uber put together a service that lets everyone know the correct place to go to vote, based on your address.

Not to be outdone, ZipCar is offering free rentals on Election Day. Click here for car availability across the state.
