Loyola Detroit High School Students Extend YouTube Invitation To Pope Francis

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Students and staff at Loyola High School have joined a growing movement social media movement to bring Pope Francis to Detroit in 2015.
The YouTube video features students extending an invitation to the head of the Catholic Church with members of the school community delivering statements including "like you, we are faithful," and "we change lives, you can help us change lives as well" along with video clips of the school and activities at the Jesuit school.
This is the latest effort in a city-wide effort to have the Pope include Detroit on his itinerary during a trip to the United States he is reportedly considering in Sept. 2015 for the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia.
Students at Detroit Cristo Rey High School started the campaign in August, establishing a Facebook page Let's Bring Pope Francis to Detroit in 2015. A Twitter feed, The Pope Francis Project, has also been set up to publicize the effort.
According to an article in the Catholic Review, the Archdiocese is aware of the effort by the students and is "encouraged" by the support. Mayor Mike Duggan is also backing the effort, the report stated.
The only previous visit to Detroit by a Pope was in 1987 when Pope John Paul II spent two days in the area which included a mass at the Pontiac Silverdome.
