Lotto Winner Gives Car To Clerk At Store Where He Bought Winning Ticket

GAYLORD (AP) - A northern Michigan man has won the state's fourth-largest Lotto 47 jackpot. And the clerk who works at the store that sold the ticket is getting a car.

Lottery officials say the winner of the $13.1 million jackpot traveled to Lansing with the ticket Friday and claimed a lump-sum prize of about $8.3 million.

The winner didn't want his name released. The ticket for Wednesday's drawing was sold at DerMiner's Parkside Market in Gaylord. The winner told Lottery officials that he plans to give his car to a store clerk who needs one.

Store owner Brian DerMiner accompanied the winner to Lansing. He says the man talked about helping others with the windfall, not himself.
