The Embassy Suites was on lockdown Monday morning, as Romulus police were searching for Pablo Medina — suspected of fatally shooting of his wife and another woman in Detroit over the weekend.

Early Saturday morning police say Medina was waiting for his estranged wife to arrive at a home in Detroit when a car pulled up and he allegedly fatally shot the driver, a 27-year-old woman. He allegedly followed a 42-year-old woman as she ran from the car, continuing to fire shots, also killing the second woman.

The suspect escaped in a silver-blue Chevy Camero, which was later recovered.

Police issued an alert that Medina was to be considered armed and dangerous.

After police found Medina was believed to be hiding out at the hotel, no one was allowed to enter or leave the building for hours.

Police said there were concerns that Medina still had his master key that worked on every room.

After a lengthy standoff, police fatally shot Medina as he emerged from a storage closet, allegedly pointing a gun at officers.

Romulus police said Medina worked in maintenance at the hotel but was fired last Friday, and appeared to have been living in the closet.

An investigation is ongoing
