Location, Location, Location! Michigan DNR To Auction Off Surplus Land

LANSING (WWJ) - Thinking of expanding your real estate portfolio? Or finding the ideal getaway for family recreational trips? The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will offer surplus public land in a sealed-bid auction beginning December 6.

"The DNR has surplus properties that we get together - review properties and the surplus ones - that are isolated from other DNR managed lands - they are often difficult for us to manage and they provide limited recreational benefit," says Michael Michalek with the DNR.

The auction will feature parcels located in counties mainly in Central/Northern Lower Michigan and in the Upper Peninsula, including Arenac, Baraga, Chippewa, Clare, Gladwin, Lake, Mackinac, Manistee, Midland, Newaygo, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Presque Isle, Roscommon and Wexford Counties. Michalek says the land is usually in northern Michigan, but can be anywhere in the state. Sealed bids will be taken through January 10.
