Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah may not have grown up in Flint, Mich., but he can relate to the problems the city is having. After the city switched its municipal water source and the public found out that significant amounts of lead had entered the water, Gov. Rick Snyder declared a state of emergency there.

Ansah, who was born in Accra, Ghana, grew up on a continent where access to safe drinking water is a frequent problem. So he decided to use his position to donate 94,000 bottles of water to Flint (he wears jersey No. 94). The defensive end also delivered the cases of water himself.

Several other Lions defensive linemen joined Ansah as he was delivering the donation.

Several people of influence have come forward to help with the Flint water crisis. The Redskins' defensive line recently donated 3,600 bottles of water. Big Sean, a rapper who grew up in Detroit, announced a campaign to give $10,000 towards helping children in Flint, who are at high risk for health issues related to lead contamination. The stars of Hardcore Pawn launched a bottled water drive.

Add Ansah to the list of those fighting to clean up the mess in Flint, whose health effects will likely be felt for years to come.
