Lions Start 1st Minicamp Under Caldwell Sans Suh

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions have begun their first voluntary minicamp under first-year coach Jim Caldwell without Ndamukong Suh.

The two-time All-Pro defensive end was not on the field with his teammates Tuesday afternoon during the 10-minute portion of the workout that was open for the media.

A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Monday night that Suh will attend organized team activities in May and a mandatory minicamp the next month. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because Suh was not announcing his plans.

Suh is entering the last year of his contract.

Detroit cornerback Chris Houston and wide receiver Carlin Isles also were absent when the media had access to Tuesday's minicamp.
