Lions' Ameer Abdullah Out For At Least Eight Weeks For Foot Injury

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) – The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday that they have signed free agent wide receiver Aaron Dobson and placed running back Ameer Abdullah on reserve / injured for a foot injury he sustained during the loss to the Tennessee Titans Sunday.

There's no official word on how long Abdullah will be out, but league sources tell the WWJ Newsroom there's a chance Abdullah could come back after eight weeks.

Dobson joins the Lions receiving corps following a three-year stint with the New England Patriots (2013-15). He appeared in eight games (three starts) last season for New England and finished with 13 receptions for 141 yards.

Drafted by the Patriots in the second round (59th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Marshall, Dobson has played in 24 career games (13 starts). His career totals include 53 receptions for 698 yards and four touchdowns.

Detroit also signed left back Zaviar Gooden, running back George Winn to practice squad and released guard Chase Farris and wide receiver Isaac Fruechte from practice squad.
