CBS DETROIT - Every member of the Detroit Lions except for one turned up for the first day of offseason workouts, the Lions announced Monday.

The only player absent from the first day of workouts, which are voluntary, is veteran safety James Ihedigbo, who is seeking a new contract. Ihedigbo, who played a major role in the team's heralded defense last season, has a base salary of $1.1 million this season. A backup safety whom the Lions re-signed this offseason, Isa Abdul-Quddus, has a base salary of $1.2 million.

In the first two weeks of the offseason program, players are limited to strength work, conditioning and rehab. In the second phase of the program, teams can do on-field drills on a "separates" basis, meaning the offense and defense do not face each other. In the final phase, which includes organized team practice activities (OTAs), teams can conduct 7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.

The only manadatory portion of the offseason program is the minicamp. For the Lions, that takes place June 16 to June 18.
