With many more cuts looming this week, the Lions have agreed to release wide receiver Ryan Broyles.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Broyles went to the Lions' general manager, Martin Mayhew, and asked to be cut.

In Detroit's third preseason game against Jacksonville on Friday, Broyles was targeted only one time. He caught three passes for 31 yards against Washington in the week before that, and in Week 1, caught two for 17 yards (on three targets).

Broyles was the Lions' second-round draft pick in 2012, but only played in 21 games in his career. He totaled 32 receptions for 420 yards and two touchdowns over those three seasons, where he dealt with injuries and lack of playing time after starting in three games his rookie year.

While he was at Oklahoma, Broyles set an NCAA record for career receptions (349) before Justin Hardy broke it last year. And that was all before he lost his senior year due to a torn ACL.

The deadline to have rosters cut down to 75 players is Tuesday, so Broyles certainly won't be the last to be cut over the next two days.
