Lions Coach Caldwell To Speak To Detroit Students
DETROIT (AP) — More than 300 high school student-athletes will hear about sportsmanship and respect from Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell.
Caldwell is to speak to the students during a dinner hosted Wednesday evening by the UAW-Ford. The students attend 18 schools in the Detroit Public Schools district and the Education Achievement Authority.
Caldwell was hired in January to lead the Lions. He had been the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.
He says in a release that "student-athletes are leaders at their schools ... but real leaders display sportsmanship, and make the right choices on and off the field."
Current and former professional football and basketball players also are expected to attend the dinner and sit with students. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions during the event.
