Line For Kanye West's Detroit Pop-Up Shop Winds Through Mall; Only 3 People Allowed Inside At Once [VIDEO]

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Kayne West fans in metro Detroit are going crazy for a taste of "The Life of Pablo."

The rapper-turned-fashion mogul on Friday opened 21 pop-up stores worldwide for three days only -- including a location at Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights.

Well before the doors were set to open at 10 a.m. Friday, hundreds of fans flocked to the mall to secure their spot in line, which winds through a lengthy stretch of the mall.

Several uniformed police officers are also on hand, mainly to handle crowd control. The store was supposed to open at 10 a.m., but by 10:55 a.m. the doors were still closed. A reason for the delay has not been provided.

Fans are going to be waiting in line for quite some time as well -- only three people are allowed inside the shop at any given time.

Once inside, fans really have to keep their hands to themselves -- you aren't allowed to touch anything, or try anything on, until after you've made your purchase. And you're only allowed to purchase six items per person.

Fans waiting to enter the store, most under age 21, were flashing handfuls of cash.

"I got $3,000 in my account, see what I can do with it," said one fan. "I'm buying everything. It's dope. It's unique to every city."

"I've got a pretty big budget, you know, because I've got my own business," said another young man. "I'm ready to spend hundreds, of course."

"I love the album, I've got my dad's credit card ready to swipe away," said one young lady. "I've got the American Express. ... I might get in trouble when I get home."

The store will remain open through Sunday. After that, it disappears.

West appears to be expanding the pop-up store concept following a successful run at a New York City location in March. The New York Daily News reports shoppers lined up for blocks to snatch a piece of clothing inspired by "Pablo," West's latest album. A recycled Levis jacket customized by West was on sale at the store for $400.
