DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) - Maybe DeAndre Levy will play on Thursday, after all.

After Jim Caldwell painted a less-than-optimistic picture of Levy's status on Wednesday morning, the Lions upgraded Levy to questionable on the afternoon injury report.

Levy was listed as doubtful for last weekend's game against the Jaguars.

The star linebacker hasn't played since Week 1 after suffering a quad injury, later incurring a knee injury as well. He returned to practice last Thursday and has been a limited participant in each practice since.

Levy's upgraded status bodes well for his availability on Thursday. The Lions have listed 52 players as questionable on their Friday injury reports this season and 39 were active in the ensuing game (75 percent).

The Lions would obviously benefit from Levy's return. He was the team's leading tackler in his last full season (2014) and possesses A+ instincts as a linebacker. It's a position at which the Lions have looked vulnerable all season long.
