"How do you like them apples! The Red Wings get the top player in free agency!" Suffice it to say, Gator was excited by what he read on Twitter Tuesday afternoon -- basically overcome by happiness.

"Polish it up, baby!" he yelled, when he saw what looked like a Tweet from Pierre LeBrun saying the Red Wings had signed Matt Niskanen.

But it wasn't true; it was a fake Twitter account. Doug Karsch broke the news to him and poor Gator's joy was short-lived. Like so many highs, it quickly turned to frustration.

"Arrrrrgh!!!! I hate you Twitter, I hate you so much!!!" he said, ranting. "I hate you Pierre LeBrun and your 42 followers!"

Ah, the agony of Twitter defeat. The segment was one to remember.

Gator was gloating as if the Red Wings had won the Stanley Cup, Karsch was singing, producer Khang was playing goal horn -- and all for nothing. They were fooled. Oh well, it happens to the best of us.

I remember the first time I used Twitter. Oh, I kid, I kid! I was once legitimately fooled by The Onion. Ah well, what can you do other than learn from your mistakes.
