Leafs' Kadri Suspended 4 Games For Cross-Checking Glendening

NEW YORK (AP) — The NHL has suspended Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri for four games without pay for cross-checking Detroit's Luke Glendening in the back of the head.

The discipline announced Monday by the league's department of player safety will cost Kadri $200,000. Kadri will also miss Toronto's final four games of the season. The Leafs, who already have been eliminated from playoff contention, host Florida on Monday.

Kadri's cross-check occurred in the second period of Detroit's 3-2 win on Saturday. After battling with Glendening in the corner, Kadri skated directly to the front of the Red Wings net and struck the Detroit forward from behind.

Kadri was assessed a minor penalty. Glendening wasn't hurt on the play.
