Law Enforcement Dog Helps Capture Man In Grand Rapids Attic

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a police dog has helped capture a man who was hiding from officers in the attic of a Grand Rapids home.

Prosecutors on Thursday charged 45-year-old Raymond Bettison with home invasion, resisting and obstructing and driving on a suspended license.

Bettison was arrested Wednesday on an Allegan County felony warrant for carrying a concealed weapon. Members of a fugitive task force spotted him earlier in the day.

The dog bit him on the leg and police say Bettison was taken to a hospital before being jailed.

Records didn't indicate whether he had a lawyer Thursday.

The Grand Rapids Press reports that records say Bettison was freed from prison in 2013 after serving time for assault.
