Last Ball From 1986 World Series Being Sold By Carter Family

NEW YORK (AP) — The ball used for the final out of the 1986 World Series won by the New York Mets is among the items being put up for auction by the family of late Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter.

Carter was behind the plate when Boston's Marty Barrett struck out to end Game 7. The Mets 8-5 at Shea Stadium that night for their most recent championship.

Carter was elected to the Hall in 2003. He died in 2012 at 57.

A game-worn Mets jersey from 1985 and Carter's jersey and pants from a 1984 Montreal Expos game also are in the online sale by Heritage Auctions that closes Nov. 18-19.
