Lansing's Mayor Wants To Set Up City Hall In New Location

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Lansing's mayor wants to set up city hall in a new location.

Mayor Virg Bernero says the current building has "served well for over 50 years" but it's "come to the point where it's gonna need major reinvestment."

WILX-TV reports  the proposal will be discussed in Bernero's State of the City address on Tuesday. Bernero says a renovation of Lansing's current city hall would cost $50 million to $60 million while redeveloping another building as a new city hall would save millions.

Under the proposal, which would need city council approval, city hall would be moved to part of the vacant Lake Trust Building location. The current city hall could be sold for redevelopment.
