Lansing-Area Teacher Found With Child Porn On Flash Drive

WILLIAMSTON, Mich (WWJ) -- A Lansing-area biology teacher is facing a lengthy prison sentence after authorities discovered around 1500 sexually explicit images on a flash drive he kept at school.

James Preston told arresting officers that the drive did in fact belong to him but that he planned to erase the images. Preston has been working at the high school since 2000 and is currently banned from school property.

Authorities say some of the images found on the flash drive at Williamston High School were of children, but won't reveal how many are involved and are trying to rule out students of the school. The images were discovered by a school IT professional who reported the pictures to school authorities.

Preston was freed on $10,000 dollars bond after a hearing earlier this week.

If convicted, Preston could face up to 10 years for using a computer to commit a crime and four years for each child pornographic image.
