Landscaper Killed In Oakland Township Tree Cutting Accident

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A landscaper is dead after a tree fell on him while he was working in Oakland Township.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, deputies, along with a crew from the Oakland Township Fire Department, were called to a home in the 1400 block of Lake George Rd. Wednesday on a report of a tree cutting accident.

Deputies discovered that the victim — a 49-year-old Detroit man who works for a landscaping company — had been in a large tree cutting it down when it fell, trapping him.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of his injuries, officials said.

A detective responded along with an investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office and a OCSO chaplain to support the victim's family.

An investigation continues.

The man's name was not released.
