Landlord: Victims In Michigan Gun Slayings Were 'Happy-Go-Lucky'

GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A landlord says the victims in a shooting attack that left two adults and two young children dead at a trailer in rural northern Michigan were "happy-go-lucky people" who were new to the area.

State police 1st Lt. Mike Hahn says it appears that the 39-year-old man fatally shot the 24-year-old woman and boys ages 2 and 4 before killing himself. It happened Saturday in Oscoda County's Greenwood Township, about 180 miles north-northwest of Detroit.

Hahn says the man made phone calls saying he planned to hurt himself and the others. Hahn isn't identifying the four or describing their relationship.

Landlord Mark Pattulo tells TV station WPBN/WTOM that the victims lived there about four months. He says they were "just trying to find their spot in the world."
