Kids Want Parents To Put Down The Electronics, Focus On Quality Time

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Researchers from the University of Michigan have found that kids feel the same way about cell phone etiquette as most parents. They want their parents to stay off their cell phone when talking to each other and while driving.

Sarita Schoenebeck, an assistant professor at the University of Michigan School of Information, told WWJ that kids are feeling the disconnect when electronics are involved.

"They want each other to be present when they are ... at the dinner table or during family time after dinner," said Schoenebeck. "But we also found that children had opinions about what their parents shared about them on social media - in particular - they didn't want them to share too much about them especially as children get older."

And kids also wanted parents to use technology in moderation and in balance with other activities. Both sides looking for more focused attention to be paid to the other.
