Kid Left In Car Calls 911: 'My Mom's Being Mean To Us'

MONROE (WWJ) - A Monroe mother of three is being investigated after she left her sons — ages 2, 4 and 6 — in a car while she took care of some financial paperwork inside a public library.

Unbeknownst to Mom, her oldest called 911.

"My mom's being mean to us!" the boy told the dispatcher.

Dispatcher: "Where are you at? What address?"

Boy: "At the library."

Dispatcher: "You're at the library?"

Boy: "...Yeah."

It happened Monday when the high temperature was a chilly 30 degrees.

Monroe police responded to the Dorsch Memorial Library, on First Street, escorting the boys back inside the library where they were eventually released back into their mother's custody.

The 25-year-old woman told police the kids wouldn't stop running around, so she'd taken them back to the car so she could finish up.

The incident has been forwarded to Child Protective Services for possible unattended child and/or child abuse charges.

The woman's name has not been released.
