Jury To Hear Closing Arguments In Bashara Trial

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Jurors are returning to court for closing arguments in a murder trial that had weeks of testimony about a broken marriage and a secret life in a comfortable Detroit suburb.

Bob Bashara is charged with arranging the death of his wife, Jane Bashara of Grosse Pointe Park, whose body was found in her Mercedes-Benz in Detroit nearly three years ago.

Final arguments are set for Wednesday in Wayne County court. Jurors heard testimony from police, Bob Bashara's children, mother and friends -- and even girlfriends who talked about his sex dungeon; He was referred to as "Master Bob."

However, jurors did not hear from a handyman, Joe Gentz, who said he killed Jane Bashara after being coerced by her husband. Gentz is in prison for second-degree murder, but refused to testify.

Prosecutors allege Bob Bashara wanted his wife out of the way so he could carry on a BDSM relationship with two women. He is currently serving out another sentence after he pleaded guilty to having tried to have Gentz killed in jail.
