Joe's Crab Shack Takes 'No Tipping' Policy Nationwide

WARREN (WWJ) - Joe's Crab Shack is the first national restaurant chain to try it: they're telling their diners not to tip. Instead of tipping, the chain will pay workers -- wait staff and bar staff -- a standard hourly wage that is higher.

They say the policy will make it less likely that the wait staff will leave.

"I agree, I think paying them a solid salary so they don't have to rely on people's gratuity is a good thing," said Ellison.

The move comes as Joe's Crab Shack has a more than six percent drop in sales.
