Jobbie Nooner Partiers Share Party Tips (Video)

ST. CLAIR SHORES (CBS Detroit) - Boaters and their passengers were up early Friday morning to pack their vessels and head out to the annual Jobbie Nooner on Gull Island.

The annual event, which draws thousands of people to the island in northern Lake St. Clair, is compared to Mardi Gras for the level of drinks, beads and non-stop parties.

Party-goers descended on Emerald City Harbor early to load their boats for a day on the water and shared the following tips on what to bring for those heading out to Jobbie Nooner:

  • Water to stay hydrated,
  • Water shoes to protect feet as party goers walk from their boat to the island,
  • Beads,
  • "Always a bring a smile and you are going to have the best time ever,"
  • Sunglasses,
  • Alcohol.

In addition to being a big day for those partying, business also look forward to Jobbie Nooner.

"Jobbie Nooner is one of the busiest days of the year," said Mark Conley, owner of Mark's Fuel Dock, who added that with Friday's St. Clair Shores fireworks display will keep him busy all day. "It's a big portion of my sales every year."
