Jets Receiver Set For NY Trial Over Nightclub Assault Claim

NEW YORK (AP) — A civil trial over a California woman's claim that she was punched in the face by a New York Jets receiver outside a Manhattan nightclub four years ago is set to begin.

Christin Myles is seeking unspecified damages from Brandon Marshall at a federal court trial scheduled to start Tuesday. The San Diego woman says she has suffered recurring head and neck pain since she was knocked down by the punch outside the Marquee nightclub on March 11, 2012. At the time, she was 24 years old.

In court papers, Marshall has denied striking Myles. He was not charged criminally. His lawyers wrote that Myles was struck in the eye during an altercation she instigated. A security video partially showing the altercation and some photographs are among likely trial exhibits.
