Jackets For Jobs Opens New Store On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Dressing for success is what Jackets For Jobs is all about. After 14 years in the business of helping low income residents prepare to look good for job interviews, they're now cutting the ribbon on their newest location on Detroit's west side.

TJ Maxx supplies the merchandise, and District Manager Karen Hume said their service is good for everyone.

"It's kind of like a boutique for women and men to shop and pick out an outfit so they're ready for the workforce," Hume told WWJ's Vickie Thomas. "The huge difference it makes to the people, to the community, it's just uplifting for people to come in and they can pick out an outfit, it's all brand new, and it's just wonderful."

Hume said their new store, located on West Outer Drive just east of the Southfield Freeway, is hosting a ribbon cutting event on April 16 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The first 100 shoppers will receive a FREE TJ Maxx gift card.

Since its inception in 2000, Jackets For Jobs has helped more than 15,000 individuals achieve the employment interview etiquette required to increase efficiency and improve job seeking skills.
