Investigation Underway After Teen Collapses, Dies

DETROIT (WWJ) - There's a tragedy -- and then a search for answers -- for one Detroit family as a teenage girl collapses and dies.

Detroit police spokesman Adam Madera described the incident:

"A 16-year old girl collapsed at her grandmother's house, she was spending the night at her grandmother's house," said Madera. "Around midnight EMS was called - the mother went over there with EMS to the hospital - she was pronounced DOA when she got there. She does appear to be suffering from some type of medical condition and that is what it appears right now."

The nature of the teen's medical condition is not known.

Madera said the Medical Examiner will investigate to figure out exactly what happened.
