Inkster Man Fatally Shot Through Window While Sitting On Couch At Home

INKSTER (WWJ) - An Inkster man is dead after he was murdered while sitting on a couch in his home in the 26,000-block of Yale Street.

Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw says the person responsible walked up to the window, at around 7 :30 p.m. Monday, and fired multiple shots at 21-year-old Joel Rustin.

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Shaw said investigators believe Rustin was specifically targeted. They're working on some leads.

"We do know that there are some non-random factors — I guess, is the best way to put it, that may tie this to some other individuals," Shaw said.

Shaw didn't specific a possible motive.

"We do know that there are people who live in that area of Inkster that are familiar with both the victim, and the possibly the suspects, that can give us information about why this occurred," he said.

Detectives with the MSP Special Investigations are working the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 734-287-5000.
