Indiana Woman Dies While Swimming At Southwest Michigan Lake

PORTER TOWNSHIP (CBS DETROIT/AP) — Authorities say a young Indiana woman has died while swimming at a lake in southwestern Michigan.

Cass County sheriff's deputies responded Tuesday evening to Long Lake in Porter Township, where seven people from Indiana had been wakeboarding. The sheriff's office says they stopped to take a break, and 19-year-old Janelle Miller of Shipshewana went for a swim and vanished.

People on the boat called 911 and tried unsuccessfully to find her. The Cass County Marine Division and the Van Buren County Dive Team found her body late Tuesday.

The death is under investigation.
