Iggy Pop Visits Detroit Today

(WWJ) The first ever show for The Stooges was at Detroit house party on Halloween Night nearly 50 years ago.

And now rock legend Iggy Pop is back Down on the Street.

The Wild One - known for his on-stage antics like throwing peanut butter on crowds and rolling around in broken glass -  will be signing copies of his new book - "Total Chaos: The Story of the Stooges" at 9:30 p.m.Tuesday at Third Man Records, 441 W. Canfield, in Midtown. The event is free, first come, first served.

According to Metro Times, Iggy will sit down with "Total Chaos" author Jeff Gold to discuss the book, which "tells the story of the band through Iggy Pop's eyes and is chalk full of never-before-seen images of the band." More details can be found here.

Iggy will also be at the DIA's Detroit Film Theater at 7 p.m. to have a Real Cool Time with acclaimed indie director Jim Jarmusch to show off the new movie about The Stooges called - fittingly enough - "Gimme Danger".

Tickets are $15, and were available from the DIA online, at their box office, and by phone at (313) 833-4005. The event sold out early, but there's still a chance further tickets may be released today.
