I-75 Reopens After Shutdown Due To Jackknifed Semi

DETROIT (WWJ) - Afternoon travelers ran into some traffic trouble in Detroit, Tuesday afternoon, as a jackknifed semi truck shut down northbound I-75.

From around 2 p.m. until shortly before 4 p.m., all lanes were closed along northbound I-75 at Michigan Avenue in Southwest Detroit, not far from the Ambassador Bridge. Traffic was backed up all the way to West Grand Blvd. with traffic slowing as far back as Livernois.

The disabled truck was left sitting across the two left lanes, but emergency crews had cleared the scene by around 3:45 p.m. Traffic, however, remained slow until around Springwells as the afternoon commute began.

It's unclear at this time what caused the crash and no injuries were reported.

For the latest from the roads, stay with WWJ Newsradio 950 during Traffic and Weather on the 8s, 24-hours a day. Check for recent incidents now on the CBS Detroit Traffic Page.
