I-696 Closure Postponed Due To Unexpected Rain

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A closure of the busy I-696 freeway that was scheduled for this weekend is off M-DOT's plate.

Eastbound I-696 was scheduled to close between I-275 and the Lodge for concrete repairs, but thanks to the torrential downpour Friday, that work has been called off.

MDOT says the pavement is too wet for concrete to set, so the closure is being postponed until further notice. Crews will attempt to perform the work again next weekend.
