Hurricanes Claim Frk Off Waivers From Detroit, Sign Nakladal

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The Carolina Hurricanes have claimed forward Martin Frk off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings.

General manager Ron Francis announced the move Sunday, saying Frk will join the Hurricanes' training camp following the team's day off Monday.

Frk is a 23-year-old who has not yet skated in the NHL but had 27 goals and 17 assists last season with the Red Wings' AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids. Detroit drafted him in the second round in 2012.

The Hurricanes also signed 28-year-old defenseman Jakub Nakladal to a one-year contract worth $600,000. He had five points in 27 games with Calgary last season.
