Hundreds Take Polar Plunge To Benefit Special Olympics - Michigan

DETROIT (WWJ) - Looking brave and (mostly) fearless, hundreds took a quick dip in some pretty chilly water, all in the name of a good cause.

Not as crazy as it sounds, as about two hundred people took part in the Polar Plunge by jumping into the icy waters of the Detroit River Saturday.

The bone chilling event benefits Special Olympics - Michigan.

Tim Terzin of Fenton spoke with WWJ's Beth Fisher right after taking the plunge - telling her why he takes part in the freezy dip:

"For the athletes, the Special Olympics, love 'em. Have all respect for what they do and I had to give something to them to help them do what they do when they play."

Saturday's Polar Plunge is one of 30 law enforcement touch run plunges
taking place in Michigan through March.
