Hundreds More MINI Coopers Needed To Break World Record On Mackinac Bridge

DETROIT (WWJ) - MINI Cooper owners and leasers are wanted in an effort to set a world record across the Mackinac Bridge.

They're calling it "MINI On The Mack," and Ashley Abdenour says they need nearly 400 more drivers to make it happen.

"We're trying to break the world record for the largest parade of Minis," Abdenour, of Mini of Grand Rapids, told WWJ's Beth Fisher. "It was set in London a couple of years back, and the record is 1,451 MINIs."

If you're a MINI driver, she says, tell your MINI friends.

"Get some groups together," Abdenour said. "We have a lot of people coming from all over the country and Canada. We've had people call asking to rent MINIs because they want to be a part of the event."

MINI on the Mack will take place on Saturday, Aug. 1, beginning with the parade starting in  Mackinaw City and ending with a day of celebrating in St. Ignace — with fireworks at dusk over the Moran Bay.

To be a part of the event, get more information and register at MiniOnTheMack.com.
