Howell High School Teacher Arraigned On Charges Including Child Pornography

HOWELL (WWJ) - A teacher at Howell Public Schools was arraigned Thursday for possessing child pornography.

Michigan State Police say Duane Miller, 59, a teacher and coach, was arraigned on one count of possession of child sexually abusive material and one count of using a computer to commit the crime. Miller, whose background check came-out clear, has been placed on administrative leave.

According to the Lansing State Journal Millar's attorney, George Zulakis, declined to comment about the charges, but he confirmed that he notified Howell Public Schools' officials who had to cancel a school-sponsored trip being led by Millar, who is a Spanish teacher at Howell High School

At this time, the MSP does not believe any Howell Public Schools students are involved in this situation or that any inappropriate materials were accessed on district property or using the district network or devices.

In a statement to WWJ the district stated it had issued a parent communication via email and posted the parent letter on its website.
