Houston Parents Leave Child To Go To Detroit Heavy Metal Concert

(AP) — A suburban Houston couple faces charges after being accused of leaving their 11-year-old daughter home alone so they could attend a concert in Detroit.

John Guerrero and Virginia Yearnd were free on bond on Tuesday after making their initial court appearances.

According to court documents, the couple traveled to Detroit on Aug. 22 to see industrial metal band Godflesh.

The next day, their daughter was found alone in their home by the girl's great aunt. Authorities say the girl was found as she was trying to cook something on the stove to eat.

The 48-year-old Guerrero and 39-year-old Yearnd were arrested Monday after returning to Houston. They were each charged with child endangerment.

Court records didn't list attorneys for the couple.
