Police were called to the San Remo Apartments in Harrison Township for a suspected car theft in progress on Sunday.

A caller told sheriff dispatchers that his black 2007 Chevy Trailblazer had just been stolen from the parking lot of his apartment building, and was now headed southbound on Union Lake towards Shook Road.  The Trailblazer was being closely followed by a Dodge Avenger.

Sheriff deputies stopped the Avenger but the driver of the Trailblazer, Jerome Havard, continued in speeds in excess of 100 mph. He eventually lost control of the Trailblazer, left the roadway, struck a large snow-bank and overturned. It came to rest against the median wall.

Jerome Havard was found lying in the middle lane of westbound I-94, and was taken to an area hospital. His brother, Jermaine Havard, who drove the Avenger, was arrested and charged as well.
