Heavy Rains Flood, Close Northbound M-39 At Michigan Ave.
DEARBORN (WWJ/AP) — Heavy rain has soaked parts of lower Michigan, causing flooding that has closed part of one expressway and dampened the excitement at the Detroit Grand Prix.
The northbound lanes of the Southfield Freeway were closed at midday Sunday in Dearborn, west of Detroit. Many surface roads have deep puddles blocking some lanes.
The National Weather Service has placed much of the Saginaw Bay area under a flood warning, while seven counties in
southeastern Michigan are under a flood watch.

The weather service says 24-hour rainfall totals topped 2.5 inches in some places.
The Lower Rouge River at Inkster was 0.19 feet over flood stage at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, while The Clinton River in Macomb County's Clinton Township was 0.51 feet above flood stage.
